Wireworld's proprietary flat cable design has significantly lower loss and higher precision than the conventional round HDMI cable design, which has been used in computer cables for decades. The Series 52 cables feature die-cast metal connectors for superior durability and shielding of the proprietary cable terminations, which maintain the cable's precise 100-ohm impedance all the way to the plug contacts. Rather than the standard nickel, these contacts have a thick layer of silver under their gold plating, reducing contact losses by more than half. The top-of-the-line Silver Starlight includes signal conductors made of the finest material utilized in any digital video cable, OCC (Ohno Continuous Cast) silver-clad copper of 6N (>99.99997%) purity. Starlight and Ultraviolet have silver-clad OFC conductors, but Starlight's conductors contain much more silver for increased efficiency. Chroma has OFC conductors and molded connectors, while Island brings the superior performance of Wireworld's flat cable design into the entry-level price range.
